Write Me Up

Just writing. Maybe someone will read it.

This is where I went for my christmas break. Alaska looks gorgeous even in the winter! My boyfriend took me out fishing, and although we didn’t get any bites, we still got to see the sun and smell the water. This picture makes me breathe a little easier every time I look at it.

The sun touched her skin and she breathed in slowly. There was a light wind that smelled of melting snow and green things. It tugged at her jacket and pulled a few strands of hair loose from her ponytail. She stepped into the damp brown grass and felt moist cold dirt under her feet. Between her toes, tiny flecks of green appeared like magic. The world was finally melting.

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,300 times in 2013. If it were a cable car, it would take about 22 trips to carry that many people.

I’m back.

Yeah it’s been an extremely too Lon amount of one since I posted. I haven’t been writing or reading near as much as I need or want to. But it is a new year (and although new year resolutions never really work out) I’m going to keep writing on here, if only to keep in practice.
First, I would like to post about books I’m reading. My goal is to be reading at least an hour or two everyday instead of watching tv. I would also like to read only new books (though I’m sure I’ll cave on this a but and read some old favorites for comfort food).
Second, I want to post photography and or artwork, whether it be well known or new or my own or my friend’s. I like the idea of spreading some beauty.
For now that’s it. I decided that I’m not posting any of my book until I’m done with it I need to get in out of my head before I get feedback on it. So you all will have to be satisfied with book reviews and art for now.

Here are the books I’m currently reading:
On Writing by Stephen King
I can honestly say this is the only book I have ever read by King. His stuff is a bit too freaky for me. I’ve never been one for horror stories though i do occasionally like suspense. However, I have respect for him as a writer, especially after reading this. It is half biography, half book on technique. He is very straight forward and honest about his life and the logistics of writing. He shares his love of the craft and the art but doesn’t over glamorize it. And best if all, reading this really kicked my butt and made me want I write and read more. If you are a writer you need to read this book.

Rocannon’s World by Ursula K. LeGuin
LeGuin is in my top three favorite authors. She writes probably the most beautiful prose I have ever read and her characters are so believable that I hate it when the book ends. This is her first novel. I have only read two chapters but so far it is wonderful. Sci if readers need to read any and all of her books.

Tehanu by Ursula K. LeGuin
Also only a couple chapters in. It is he fourth book in the earthsea books. These are more fantasy than scifi but still wonderful. I’ve already run across a few passages that transported me to another world. Her imagery is gorgeous and slow moving but perfect.

That’s all for now folks!
